Takedowns

If you believe something on AudaStories infringes your copyright, or should be removed on other legal grounds, tell us and we will act.

What we cover

This page handles copyright takedown requests under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent claims under the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and the EU Directive 2001/29/EC. It also handles related requests from a subject, descendant, or representative who believes a story misrepresents them, and requests for the removal of an image whose licence is disputed or has changed.

Who to contact

Email [email protected]. Subject line: "Takedown request". If you prefer post, write to Explorer Innovations Ltd, United Kingdom, Company No. 14639977.

What to include

To let us act on a takedown request under the DMCA or the UK equivalent, include all of the following:

  1. The exact URL of the AudaStories page, story, or image you want removed.
  2. A clear description of the copyrighted work or other right you are relying on, with a URL to the original if there is one.
  3. Your full name, postal address, phone number, and email address.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorised by the rights holder, their agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Incomplete notices slow things down. If you are not sure you can satisfy all six points, email us anyway and we will help you shape the request.

What happens next

  • We acknowledge every request within two business days.
  • We respond substantively within five business days.
  • Where the claim is clear, we remove or disable access to the content pending review.
  • Where we choose not to act, we explain why.
  • If the content was uploaded by a user, we may pass the notice to them so they can file a counter-notice.

Counter-notices

If your content has been removed and you believe it should not have been, email [email protected] with a counter-notice containing: the URL of the removed content, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification, your full contact details, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales (or, if you are outside the UK, the federal district court where you live).

Misuse of this process

Knowingly filing a false notice or counter-notice may expose you to liability for damages and legal costs. Please be honest.
