A teenage goat with no apartment, no team, and a pair of sneakers he just sold to cover a bet he lost. That is where Will Harris starts. Not at the top, not even close.

Goat is a 2026 animated sports comedy from Sony Pictures Animation, directed by Tyree Dillihay and released in the United States on February 13, 2026, timed to coincide with the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles that same weekend. Basketball player Stephen Curry produced the film and voices a character, marking his film debut.

The story is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals, where Will Harris, a young American Pygmy goat voiced by Caleb McLaughlin, idolises a black panther roarball star named Jett Fillmore. Roarball is the film's basketball-like sport, and the Vineland Thorns are its struggling team. Will wants in. The world keeps telling him no.

After losing a street bet to Mane Attraction, the league's star Andalusian horse, Will loses his apartment. But a video of him breaking Mane's ankles goes viral overnight, and the Thorns' warthog owner signs Will to the team. Jett, voiced by Gabrielle Union, is furious. She mocks him publicly at a press conference.

Will earns his place anyway. When Jett picks up a technical foul and is forced to sit, Will is subbed in and scores the Thorns' first win of the season. Slowly, grudgingly, the team comes around. Then comes the blow that nearly breaks them: the owner has secretly sold the Thorns for profit, and everyone will be cut.

Will tells the team what he overheard. They win the semi-final but fall apart over Jett's selfishness, and the teammates quit. Before the finals, Jett admits to Will that she is terrified of losing her legacy. Together, they bring the team back.

In the championship against the Magma, Mane injures Jett's leg badly enough that she leaves on crutches. She returns to the bench and watches. In the final quarter, with the team a player short after Archie is ejected for defending Will, Jett steps back onto the court. She draws the defence, passes to Will, and Will makes the winning shot.

Goat grossed nearly two hundred million dollars worldwide and earned an audience grade of A from cinemagoers. Critics were divided on the writing but almost unanimous on the visuals, calling the animation, built in the tradition of "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", the film's genuine strength. The underdog got his moment, and it landed.
